"This agency, specifically my agent Neil McKinnon, failed completely in communication, advocacy, and basic responsibility to a long-time client. I did not find out that my auto policy was being non-renewed because Neil McKinnon called me, explained the situation, or attempted to intervene with underwriting. I found out by accident, when I called State Farm to make a routine change to my policy. Only then was I informed that underwriting had already decided to drop me. What makes this unacceptable is that my agent knew about the non-renewal for an entire day and made no effort to contact me, no effort to proactively call underwriting, and no effort to “go to bat” for a client he had represented for years. Silence was the default. This was not a short-term or low-value relationship. I had been with this agency for several years, insured my home as well as my vehicles, and at one point had six cars insured covering five drivers. Over the course of all of that exposure, there was only one accident, on October 30th, involving our daughter, who is no longer on my policy and has her own insurance. That context apparently didn’t matter. Communication during that accident claim was already poor, slow responses, little guidance, and no sense that anyone was actively managing the situation. The non-renewal experience confirmed that this lack of communication is a pattern, not an exception. To make matters worse, the stated reason for the non-renewal was repeated use of roadside assistance, a coverage I paid extra for, without any warning that using it could be treated as an underwriting strike. If that had ever been disclosed, I would have removed the coverage immediately. Instead, I was quietly flagged and dropped. The final insult was receiving emails asking for five-star Google and Yelp reviews while all of this was happening. If you’re considering this agency, understand this clearly: you may be sold coverages without being told the real consequences of using them, and if underwriting decides to drop you, do not expect proactive communication or meaningful advocacy from your agent. I certainly didn’t get it. This experience completely destroyed my trust in both the agent and the agency."
